Alternative Investor

Alternative Investor Magazine Policy Statement

The first decade of the twenty first century has seen investor confidence in traditional investment institutions and products badly shaken.

The decade began with the scandal of pensions mis-selling which led to large fines from regulatory bodies for many leading pension providers. This irregularity resulted in ongoing misery for millions of contributors many of whom were denied the prospect of an early retirement they had been saving for.

The Stock Market has had a turbulent decade. Terrorist events such as September 11 and the Madrid Underground have resulted in sharp falls in the overall market indices as have geographical disasters such as the Tsunami.

The decade is ending with a major loss of  confidence in the banking and mortgage sector following the sub prime issue and fears of a world wide recession caused by increasing oil and energy costs and falling property values.

The Alternative Investor has been launched with the aim of identifying investment opportunities outside the “box” of traditional investments.

While we will keep readers informed of major events on the world wide financial, markets and will have continuous features on pensions, property markets and tax we will continually seek to inform you of existing, proven alternatives such as;

  • Art
  • Wine
  • Property
  • Currency
  • Coins
  • Stamps

To name but a few.

Centaur’s trading background over the last 8 years  background means that we are an expert commentator on the gambling market which many investors are turning too as an alternative to the Stock Market. An indication of this drift is annual turnover on the major Betting Exchange , Betfair which has increased fro £1 billion in 2001 to over £7 billion in 2007.

The Alternative Investor will feature regular articles on the Betting Exchanges and on Spread Betting which has long been established in the financial sectors.

We will also feature a range of  social interest articles on fields such as travel and eating out and will give readers an opportunity to win prizes in a number of competitions.

A major policy aim is to respond to your needs as a reader and we will operate a continuous interactive internet forum and also invite all readers to send in articles of interest.
